Maybe I'm Just Bitter

My dogs have given me a run for my money. Actually, they've managed to help my money run from me.

A few years ago, Buster had osteosarcoma and racked up a pretty penny in surgery and chemotherapy bills. He's also had that ulcer on his eye, a nick to his ear, a few nicely placed puncture wounds (Charlie, are you reading along?), etc. So over the years, I've put my CareCredit card to the test.

Well, I'm happy to report that the nice folks at CareCredit have instituted a reward system! For the thousands - and I mean THOUSANDS - of dollars that I've paid them in interest, I received an e-birthday card today:

I nearly wept with delight from the absurdity of it all. I understand why a company would do this, good customer relations, and all that, but how about knocking a point or two off of my outrageous interest rate that hovers in the high 20s even though I pay on time every single month? Now that would be a birthday gift.

Hey, Banfield found my blog, maybe CareCredit will, too.

  1. Those companys sure come up with strange ideas, don't they? All to avoid what we really want.

  2. Grrrrrr! I would be bitter, too! I am not sure what a CareCard is, but sounds like a racket!

    Your pal, Pip

  3. I've never heard such a thing! When Cisco was alive we called her the 10,000 dollar dog - when it truth she was probably closer to 30K with all her health issues. Sam in his younger years was racking up his own bills. I've never had a problem doing it, though!

    Sam's Mom, Christine

  4. Mayzie's mom here. Definitely wouldn't want to give the consumer anything they actually NEED, now would we?

When we got Ranger, it was one thing after another. Seems like the first couple of years, he was always going to the vet for something. So when we got Mayzie, I got pet insurance. And guess what? She hasn't had ONE thing wrong with her. Now, I'm not complaining. It's just ironic. And of course, there's no way I'm going to cancel the insurance because just as soon as I do...

    But hey! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  5. CareCredit... are you listening?

  6. Would it make you feel any better if'n I wished you a happy birfday? And you didn't even has to pay me any interest for that! ♫ Happy Birfday To You! ♫

  7. I hope they find your blog and you get a response you like from them. :)

  8. I had a kitty who regularly went in for vet visits every few months. He was a spendy little man but I'd do it all over again for any one of my pets. The vet didn't accept insurance so that wouldn't have helped.

I totally get what you mean about interest rates and credit cards. I make my payments on time every single month too and yet, way more of my money goes towards interest than it does to pay off the principal balance. I feel like I'm going to be owing on that stupid thing for forever!

I hope you get reward points for past purchases, although I somehow kind of doubt you will. :(

    Happy Birthday!

  9. i always wondered about things like that
