These Paws

I'm utterly obsessed with these feet.

Because they belong to this face:

And that head plays home to Those Ears. Oh, Those Ears.

"I Am Lennox" Group on Facebook

Beautiful banner from I Am Lennox's Facebook page

For the past two years, millions of people around the world have followed Lennox's story, which tragically ended in his senseless death this past week.

To show the world that Lennox's supporters stand in solidarity against BSL, a group of concerned citizens created a Facebook page called "I Am Lennox." They encourage people to post pictures of their dogs as a strong message against the cruel and tragic punishment Lennox received for simply looking like a pit bull. The message, of course, extends to BSL, and the dangers of breed-specific legislation of any kind.

If you have a Facebook page, visit I Am Lennox; I dare you not to get lost in the thousands of posts from people around the world. It's an amazing, worldwide journey to read each post, which, by the way, are not just of dogs of all breeds, but include cats, guinea pigs, even a tarantula. You'll cry a little, laugh a little, let out a few "awwww"s, and feel great that Lennox's loss is not going to be easily forgotten. We can't forget.

Join the group if you so desire (you need to receive approval before posting). When I joined on Wednesday, there were only 5500 members. The group is now nearly 14,000 strong! The Belfast City Council has made a horrible mistake, and the entire world has to learn that judging a book by its cover helps no one.

Sad Wednesday

Our hearts are broken for the Barnes family who lost their fight to save Lennox.

May he rest in peace.

I am Lennox.

Walkers Beware

Mom's getting ready for her walk, but it's been tough lately. Because this stuff,

poison ivy, is starting to take over the sidewalks.

It creeps along, the leaves get huge... It's annoying! Mom is very allergic and tries to avoid this stuff like the plague.

This place has sooo much poison ivy. We've seen vines almost half a foot wide curling up trees - it's incredible. Tarzan would love it. IF he lived around here. And weren't allergic. Unfortunately, these aren't the kinds of vines you want to play around with.

When we first moved here, mom had to get cortisone shots because she had such bad reactions. Her dermatologist knew to expect her at the first sign of warm weather - sometime in April and again in July. She didn't learn her lesson. SHE wanted to win against this pesky stuff and would pull the vines the minute they started to grow. Well, 10 years later, she knows she's lost.

Now, she looks at it with disgust and walks down the center of the street. I guess she'd rather be hit by a car than covered with an oozy, ugly allergic reaction! (She doesn't take us on these walks. We get it on our coats and pass it along to her!)

An Award!

Our friends at Talking Dogs graciously awarded us the Sunshine Award! Many thanks to our friends there for this great award; we truly appreciate it!

There are some rules associated with this, but it's pretty easy:

> Answer a few questions (below);
> Pass it along to 10 people and let them know they've received it.

So, here goes!

Favorite Number: Six. Five. Eight? I DON'T KNOW! I guess I don't really have a favorite number!

Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Root beer! But I usually stick to water. Way less sugar.

Facebook or Twitter? Facebook, but my blogs link to Facebook and Twitter, so I have all bases covered!

My passion: Heh, heh - My dogs and animal rescue, silly!

Favorite pattern: Tweed. Can't see the dog hair on tweed.

Favorite day of the week: Late on a Friday afternoon - get me out of the office and start that weekend!

Favorite flower: Peony

Now, I have to choose 10 blogs to pass this award to. That's hard because I love so many blogs! Here goes:

Bailey Unleashed
Dory's Backyard
Houston Pittie Pack
Jazzi's World
Life with Alfred
Mona, Weenie, and the Mommy, too
Sagira
Shawnee the Shepherd

Thanks again, Talking Dogs!

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Dog Parking at Chateau Montelena, the winery featured in the movie Bottle Shock. Chateau Montelena  shocked the winemaking world by taking first place in 1976 in what's now known as the "Judgement of Paris," when Californian winemakers went head-to-head with French winemakers to determine who was best at their craft.

You have to love a dog-friendly winery.

Mom Neglects Us

Mom feels bad because she's been neglecting her duties here in Blogville. First, she left all of us alone for over a week. [Note from mom: It wasn't easy for me. It's not like I slept at all without my fur monsters, ya know.] Then, she flew off to Napa Valley for some sun and fun. [Note from mom: Hey, someone has to keep tabs on the Valley and make sure the wine is tasting good...] Then, as soon as she comes back, she gets the flu! Can you imagine??? Sick as a... well... dawg. So she's posting a few pics of her vacation to hold everyone over until she's back on her feet 100%.

Note from mom: It's great to be back with my monsters. There's nothing like coming home and seeing five butts wiggling like crazy! Make that six - I was pretty happy, too! I've missed my Blogville friends and will make an extra effort to stop by to say hi to everyone. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures!

The yard of the house we rented was beautifully landscaped. Here's an artichoke plant...

A fig tree (see the fig?)... There were also olive trees, rosemary and sage bushes, you name it. Just beautiful.
An orange tree...

I woke up to this sight one morning. Calistoga is known for hot air balloons. Gorgeous!
A closer look.
A hike up Mount Saint Helena offered some great photo ops. Can you see the hummingbird in this picture? He was a little faster than my shutter!
Who could resist a photo of Dogtown (population now 33)? Near Point Reyes Station, CA.

Hope you enjoyed these. More to come as mom sorts through her photos!
