From YesBiscuit!: Thirteen MS Dogs Now Available for Adoption

YesBiscuit! has an update on 13 of the over 400 pets rescued from a Mississippi shelter in January.

This shelter was designed to hold 60 animals, but when authorities arrived, they found OVER 400 pets living in filthy conditions. You can imagine the horrible neglect of these poor animals. According to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA), the 13 dogs they took in were suffering primarily from "mange, malnourishment, ear and other infections, and heartworm."

Well, the kind folks at HSNEGA have provided care to these 10 dogs and 3 puppies, and as of April 3rd, they are available for adoption.

If you know of anyone in the Georgia area (HSNEGA is located in Gainesville, GA) who is looking for a dog who deserves a great home, tell them about these guys. They've fought long and hard and can use a break from a kind soul. Contact the HSNEGA at 770-532-6617. They are closed on April 4 for the Easter holiday. 

Why I Hate People

They lie.

As it turns out, yesterday's frantic post regarding the theft of 13 dogs from a doggy day care/rescue facility was all a hoax.

Yes, the dogs are missing, but it appears to be a cover-up for a case of neglect. Perhaps. The police don't have the full story yet. But the injured employee, as well as the owners of the business, have been arrested. Good.

Now let's hope the dogs are found and soon because I shudder to think of what may have happened to those poor pooches.

Dogs Stolen from TN Day Care/Rescue

Canine Hope All Breed Rescue is both a doggy day care and rescue facility.

During the night, someone broke in, stabbed an employee, and - this part isn't clear - they either stole 13 dogs or stole some dogs while others got away through open gates or doors. Pictures of stolen dogs...

If you can help spread the word, all they want is to get these precious dogs back to safety. Some have medical issues which need prompt attention while others are new to the facility and might not know their way back.

At 3:30 am this morning, two men broke into Doggie Care Center in Johnson City, TN. 

This is where our friend and fellow rescue person, Tammara Josselyn, keeps all the rescue animals she takes in, nurses back to health, and finds loving homes for. They stole several dogs and stabbed an employee. 

Please contact Tammara at caninehoperescue@comcast.net or call her 423 773 8113 immediately if you have any information or contacts who can assist. Tammara needs our help, she is devastated and only wants these dogs back. Through our vast network, I am hopeful we can do just that. 

There is also a substantial reward being offered for the safe return of these dogs.

The Philadelphia Eagles, with ex-con Michael Vick in tow, recently visited the Bay Area, home to one of the most well-known Pit Bull rescues in the country, Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pitbulls (BAD RAP). And the Bay Area people are serious about not accepting this cruel excuse for a man back into the fold of professional football. Good for them.

People either don't know or out-and-out deny the dirty details of how this man treated his dogs. How he attached jumper cables to the ears of dogs, then attached the other ends of the cables to car battery terminals. The dogs were then tossed into a swimming pool. Too gruesome for you? The truth is an ugly thing.

More money for Michael Vick

Will this man ever stop earning money? What's the deal here? Sure, he spent a little time in jail, but he's on the top of the world. And it just keeps coming.

He just signed with BET for an eight-part documentary about his life. More income for a man who is far from deserving a high-profile or a multi-million dollar income. He’s hardly suffering for the pain and heartache he caused and he’s teaching our children that they can do whatever they want, spend a little time in jail, and still reap the rewards. Big rewards. HUUUUUGE rewards.

How I'd like to wipe that smirk off of his face.

Eight Weeks and Four Stories

That would be eight weeks old and a four story fall. Well, a fall is usually a trip and fall, a mistake, something that happens when your feet get in the way. This little girl, just eight weeks old, was actually thrown.

So that would be eight weeks old and a four story fall because she was thrown out of a fourth story window. Thankfully, she landed in a tree, and some kind young ladies who were hailing a cab saw all of this happen.

They rescued the poor, tiny pup, who amazingly was unhurt, and contacted Smilin' Pitbull Rescue, the incredible rescue organization that focuses solely on Pit Bulls. I had the pleasure of meeting Skylar at PAWS's 2nd Annual Bark in the Park event yesterday where we had SPBR as our guests again this year. She's sweet as sugar and cuddles like a pro!

I hope the woman who tossed her from the window experiences the same horror this poor little pup must have felt that day. Sometimes the punishment should equal the crime.

Watch "Second Chances" - September 4th

National Geographic will kick off the new season of Dogtown on Friday, September 5, at 9:00 pm EST. "Saving the Michael Vick Dogs" is a special two-hour program which chronicles the arrival of 22 of Michael Vick's most challenging dogs at Best Friends Animal Society in Utah. This episode follows four of the dogs as they begin the lengthy process of healing and rehabilitation.

I know I'll be watching as these great dogs go from feared animals to loved companions!!
